I am one of the founding members of Nepal English Language Teachers' Association (NELTA), the only professional organisation of English teachers in Nepal. The organisation was founded in 1992 when I was a graduate student at Tribhuvan University. I joined this organisation as a student representative on the first Executive Committee and since then I have been serving in this association in different capacities. I was General Secretary of the association for five years, Vice President for four years and I have just retired as the President of NELTA in February 2011.
I have grown as a leader of this association by engaging in various professional development activities. My deep level of commitment to the growth of NELTA and my continuous dedication to the professional development of the teachers associated with the organization fostered my leadership quality. I have played instrumental role to the growth of NELTA and the organisation is now spread all over Nepal with its 25 branches and more than 3000 life members from home and abroad.
The details of my contribution to NELTA can be found on my blogpost: http://gangagautam.blogspot.com/
